I picked this up at the Boxboro Hamfest for $10. I want to get the more classy Raymond Lowey version... but I figured I could learn on this one. It is electricaly Identical.
This is a nice radio to work on. There is plenty of space in the chassis.
I think soldering tube radios is more fun than working on kits. Everything is bigger and more solid.
Tubes have a much warmer sound that transistors. transmitting mp3 files to a tube radio filters out the computer sound.
Bringing an old tube radio back to life is a wonderful experience. The first time you power it up and hear a station is magical!
Listening to Old Time Radio programs on a tube radio that I restored myself is wonderful.
